International Foreign Scientist Program:
| The Training of Medical Scientists in Reconstructive
Microsurgery is only one part of of the International Institute of
Reconstructive Microsurgery which is truly world-renowned, having
trained over 200 physicians from around the world. Young scientists
from around the globe provide the stimulus and constant inquiry that
creates a fertile environment for new insights in the field of
Reconstructive Microsurgery. |
| Training is available immediately for fully trained,
board-eligible scientists. Dr. Terzis has established educational
objectives to evaluate each candidate based on training, expertise
in the field, and other factors. Your current qualifications and
status would determine the position you would enter in the program,
if accepted. A minimum of three years of surgical experience is
required in order to apply. |

Current Physicians in Training

Dr. Vasileios Kostopoulos is from the island of Crete, Greece.
His work at the Microsurgical Research Center is focused on
free vascularized nerve grafts. His Ph.D “Free vascularized fibula
graft transplantation for the treatment of femoral head osteonecrosis:
Optimal graft position with a patient-specific aiming device and
CAD-CAM technology” was presented and approved in 2003 in University of Ioannina Greece.
Dr. Kostopoulos speaks Greek, English and French.

Dr. Epaminondas Kostopoulos is from Athens, Greece.
His research at the Microsurgical Research Center is focused
on the peripheral nerve, and in June 2005, he was recognized by the
PSEF for his work with Dr. Terzis in selective ipsilateral and
selective contralateral C7 in OBPP.
Dr. Kostopoulos speaks fluent Greek, French and English.
His interests include marathon running, painting, and enjoys listening
to jazz and blues music.

Dr. Yang Dongyuan is from Guangzhou, Guangdong, P.R.China.
The focus of his research here at the Microsurgical Research
Center is on end-to-side neurorrhaphy on peripheral nerves as it
relates to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Dr. Yang is fluent
in English, Japanese and Chinese. He is an avid swimmer, specializing
in the breaststroke. His motto is “Where there is a will there is a way”.
